Angelica Salazar (BM in Violin Performance) is a multi-genre violin and viola performer, teacher, composer, and recording studio artist based in Utah Valley. With a passion for pedagogy, she runs a large private studio with students of all ages and levels. She strives to empower her students to both develop solid technique and meaningful artistry.
Angelica has been guest faculty at Moab Music Festival (2023), she is the media and string assistant with UVYSO (2019-present), and she is an annual faculty member for Mountain Springs Music Festival (2022-present). Her involvement in community arts educational programs is integral to her personal mission as a musician.
Angelica has been a finalist and winner in several state, national, and international violin and viola competitions. She has been am invited violin concerto soloist with the UVU Chamber Orchestra and with the Vidin Sinfonetta in Bulgaria. In addition to solo engagements, Angelica has been a member of various professional ensembles.
Angelica is currently performing as the "fiddler" in Fiddler on the Roof at the Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater which runs Febraury 2nd through March 21st, 2026, and she has a love for folk-music. Angelica performed violin for two weeks on a tour across France, representing the United States at the world’s oldest international folk festival, performing for several sold out audiences of thousands.
In addition to performing and teaching, Angelica is currently developing a reputation as a composer. She was a composing fellow through the Riding Tide New Canon Project 2024-2025, and she premiered a commissioned orchestral work, Swallowtail Salsa, at the National ASTA conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Recently, Angelica was commissioned to write an orchestral and choral work, Suffragette of the Skies, honoring the memory of the pilot pioneer, Amelia Earhart, that will be performed at the National ASTA conference in San Fransisco and the Midwest Orchestra Festival in 2026.
Angelica performed and published her original composition, Bailas en el Tiempo - Dances in Time, a Latin dance inspired violin concerto. She premiered the concerto with the UVU Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Cheung Chau. Angelica is building a library of both pedagogical orchestral works and high level chamber music compositions. Her release of Moonsong, a Violin and Viola Duet, is available on streaming services and scores are available for purchase. Other chamber works including a new string quartet work that will be premiered in San Fransisco in February, Butterfly Chassé, are available for early-purchase as well.
Outside of her musical endeavors, Angelica has served in community leadership capacities including serving as Miss Orem (2018), Miss Utah County (2019), Assistant Director of the Miss Utah County Scholarship Competition (2021-2024), and being a board member for various community non-profits, raising tens of thousands of dollars for good causes. Angelica grew up training as a competitive figure skater, she is a gold certified ballroom dancer, and she currently trains on pointe dancing with a community ballet company. She has a deep love for the arts and strives to be an advocate for accessible arts education in Utah.
